Caravanning and Mobile homes.
With the rise in costs of holidays and travelling abroad, caravanning and mobile homes have become very popular. However fire safety does not stop when you leave home. Being more confined, the risks could be far greater and it is essential that you fit a smoke alarm to give early warning of fire. To avoid injury and avoid risks follow our safety precautions:
- In case of emergency make sure everyone knows the location of the nearest telephone whether mobile or landline.
- On a caravan site make sure you know what the fire arrangements are.
- Make sure there is fully charged water or dry powder extinguisher located near the exit door.
- A fire blanket should be situated opposite the cooking area.
- Turn off all gas appliances after cooking.
- Gas cylinders should be kept outside the caravan or mobile home, preferably in a well ventilated locker.
- Avoid using candles and naked flames.
- Keep a torch and spare batteries handy.
- Make sure everyone knows how to get out of escape doors and windows.
- Know where the nearest landmark is a church, road junction or pub.
- Never leave children or pets alone.
